Eye Care, from Routine Exams to Advanced Treatment Options
The University of Arizona Health Network’s Division of Ophthalmology and Vision Science offers state-of-the-art ophthalmology services and also provides medical education, training programs, and research in preserving vision. Our physician-professors are skilled clinicians with exceptional educational backgrounds. Our team includes 11 full-time ophthalmologists, two full-time optometrists, two part-time clinical ophthalmologists and 35 staff members. Our full-time physicians, who supervise the care of our patients, are faculty members in the University of Arizona’s College of Medicine.
We are at the forefront of diagnostic and treatment technology and offer top-of-the-line testing and laser equipment for treating various eye diseases and disorders. We are one of the few clinics in Southern Arizona staffed with specialists in:
- Corneal conditions
- Cataract surgery
- Retina disorders
- Misalignment of the eyes
- Reconstructive ocular plastics
- Refractive surgery
Our doctors participate in individual research projects as well as clinical trials for major pharmaceutical companies.
We also offer a state-licensed, Medicare-certified ambulatory surgery center with two operating rooms and six recovery rooms. The surgery center is staffed by full- and part-time registered nurses, surgical technicians and administrative representatives who assist our specialists and community physicians in a variety of surgical procedures.
Our “open access” program is designed to provide you with a same-day or next-day appointment. Our expanded exam areas are helping us to meet the demands of the growing Greater Tucson area.
People who visit our Alvernon Eye Care Center for routine eye exams, or anyone with a doctor’s prescription, can purchase glasses and contact lenses at the optical shop located next to our clinic.
